Moving On...

Let me start this entry right away for I know it's gonna' be another lenghty post.

Shoot it's been a while since I last updated my journal, pardon me for I've been so busy and at times too lazy to compose an entry. Darn I'm not yet finish with my template, it's been ages already. A lot of things happened in the span of almost 2 weeks after I accidentally found that lost kid. Hhhmm ok why we don't we start with that... well before they (the de Guzman family) went back home to Baguio they invited me to their house in Fairview for a potluck and so they can formally thank me for my heroic deed. Oh yeah, I get to see that kid again and even before I left I reminded her not to talk with strangers again. They even told me that if ever I got myself lost in Baguio I can just phone them anytime and so they can ramble me around the city.

Oh one more thing... I went out with a very good friend that I've not seen for almost 12 years. Imagine 12 years! Kudos to Friendster we found a way to communicate again and perk-up with our almost-forgotten friendship. FYI, I have another friend that I'm looking forward of seeing again after 13 years. hahaha... I'll tell the whole story next time .

Hhmmm what else? The Gift-Giving activity of course, it's been a while since I last participated in an event like this. I think it's a wake-up call for me to be active again in my school org, UP Gawad Kalinga.

Finally, after a year of searching for housemates, and a house of  course, I already moved on my newly found crib. The reason why my I'm currently broke . It's a mix feeling though, I'm sad because seems like I already spent half of my life in QC I have so much memory in this place, I even told to myself before that my life is in QC, happy because I'm already independent (if you can call it that way). Yesterday I went back to my unit in QC to get my other stuff and I bid my final goodbye to the apartment unit that kept for the last 5 years. Actually this is tha same residence where my family used to live before we move to Panagasinan my cousins rented the place a few years after we left it. It was renovated but it was still the same unit.

On my way to the office last night I glance along the thoroughfare of Minadanao Ave..

I'll be missing Proj. 8, UP, SM North Edsa, Trinoma, Circle, Agham Road, North Ave., Quezon Ave, Kalayaan Ave, Philcoa ang pollution sa QC ... and everything about QC.

So it's like Goodbye QC and Hello Pasay for me now...

Hhmmpp at least malapit naman ako sa MOA and I'm just a jeepney-ride-away from the office.

One Extraordinary Day

Let me start this entry with a question for you guys.

How can you say that you had an extraordinary day?

Perhaps most of you would say I spent the whole day with my significant other, went on a out of town trip with my whole family or friends. My long time crush asked me out for a date.

You had 100 calls this day, or did not have a single call.

Just had a near death experience, saw an airplane crashed.

You went to a certain place or tried to do something for the first time.

You won in a lottery.  You met someone famous maybe.

Just name it...

Anyway here's what I call my extraordinary story...

Since I'm living alone for almost a month now I usually spend my restdays visiting my friends (since I got no one to talk to sa bahay). Last Friday I decided not to go out inspite of the inevitable weather and it's just a day after the payday. I spent my whole day on the comfort of my bed, I woke up at around 5pm when I decided to drop by at the newest mall Trinoma to see a movie SANA!

I decided to go to SM North Edsa first to buy a Bermuda blanket. So there, I took a FX taxi to go to SM, and there's a jam packed traffic between the intersection of Mindanao Ave. and Edsa. The FX was already at the front of Informatics School when a girl crying caught my attention at first I thought she's just a brat who can't make her parents buy what she wants so dinadaan na lang nya sa iyak. Just like most of kids do, so I just ignored her.

After buying a blanket I went straight ahead in Trinoma so once again I passed by Informatics. I was blown away when I saw that the kid is still there crying and ALONE, out of my curiosity I approached her to ask what's wrong. The convo goes like this:

Marj: Hi kanina pa kita nakita dito... asan parents mo?

Kid: I'm lost po.

Astounded!

Whapaak Marjorie what did you get yourself into???!!!

Oh my gulay I can't live this kid alone here!!!

At that time I was already thinking of the worst thing that can happen like... What if we don't find her parents? Who'll take care of this kid?

Since Inglesero nga yung bata he could be a daughter of somebody famous that I might be on tv and all that...

I can't resort to the option of abandoning the kid on that place. She's my responsibility now.

So I asked some questions hopeful that I could get more info from her. I asked where is she from?

- from Baguio

Anong pangalan?

- Michelle... forgot her last name

Ilang taon? 10 yrs. old

Next question...

How did you get lost?

(sabi na kasi don't talk to strangers eh)

Since nasa SM Edsa kami I supposed na yun yung mall na tinutukoy nya.

So I brought her to SM Edsa, and I am wishing so hard that her parents already informed the authorities about their lost kid.

Dito bang SM kayo pumunta?

- Hindi po...

Huh? Naku lagot na... Sigurado ka ba?

- Opo...

Eh saang SM yun?

Thinking that the kid might've just seen the other side of the SM building we still went inside. Luckily I found myself a helpful guard, we went to the Information booth just so they can announce to the shoppers that there's a lost kid.

Hours passed pero walang nag-rereport...

The whole time that were waiting gusto ko ng umuwi para lang matakasan yung pinasukan kong prob since there are people now who can take good care of the kid.

So they suggested that I'll take care of the kid na lang daw. And I was like what the fcuk??? I don't even like kids and now I'm gonna take care of her.

So syempre human nature... ok sige... may choice ba ako? I left my number sa kanila so if ever they received any reports/developments they'll contact me na lang.

So ayun I told Wesley about the whole story sabay tanong "pwede ba sasakyan mo, para makapag-report na tayo sa pulis?". Luckily he said yes.

After about 20 minutes or so dumating sya sa bahay dala yung kotse nya then we planned what we need to do. We reported to the nearest station sa SM North tapos nilibot namin sya sa place baka kasi maalala nya yung place kung saan sya iniwan.

Wesley decided that we go to SM Fairview first. Pag dating doon BINGO!!! Yun daw yung SM na pinuntahan nila.

Feeling nabunutan ako ng tinik.

So we looked for the nearest station doon. Ayun may na-report nga daw na many nawawalang bata na match sa description nya. They contacted her parents then after mga 15 minutes Yahoo dumating na parents nya!

Her mom burst into tears when she saw her daughter sa station pati father nya kasama rin nila tito's and tita's nya and some cousins.

Syempre nagtanong sila, how did I found her? yada... yada...

Basta super thankful naman sila that I helped her daw, that I did not ignore her.

So ayun sobrang nakahinga na kami na maluwang ni Wesley sabay punta sa Dencio's Trinoma to drink and laugh out everything that happened that day.

Just think about it guys.

What if I ignored her when I passed by her the second time? Will there be a good samaritan who will bother himself to approach her and ask her what's wrong?

Buti na lang talaga nilapitan ko siya just imagine what could have happened to her if I didn't approached her.

Hhhmm talk about making a difference huh...

Calvin and Hobbes

Since most of  us love these psycho but knee-slapping creatures let me just share some of my collected comic lines of the famous duo.

"There's more to this world than just people, you know."
-Hobbes

"Why should I have to WORK for everything?! It's like saying I don't deserve it!"
-Calvin

"I think animals are alway so cute."
-Hobbes

"I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul."
-Calvin

"I go to school, but I never learn what I want to know."
-Calvin

"To make a bad day worse, spend it wishing for the impossible."
-Calvin

"You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocketship underpants don't help."
-Calvin

"I'd hate to have a kid like me."
-Calvin

"I understand my tests are popular reading in the teachers' lounge."
-Calvin

"If you couldn't find any weirdness, maybe we'll just have to make some!"
-Hobbes

"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."
-Calvin

"If mom and dad cared about me at all, they'd buy me some infra-red nighttime vision goggles."
-Calvin

"If you do the job badly enough, sometimes you don't get asked to do it again."
-Calvin

"Reality continues to ruin my life."
-Calvin

"What assurance do I have that your parenting isn't screwing me up?"
-Calvin

"Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us."
-Calvin

"I hate to think that all my current experiences will someday become stories with no point."
-Calvin

"Girls are like slugs - they probably serve some purpose, but it's hard to imagine what."
-Calvin

"Do you hate being a girl? What's it like? Is it like being a bug?
I imagine bugs and girls have a dim perception that nature played a cruel trick on them, but they lack the intelligence to comrehend the magnitude of it."
-Calvin

"Childhood is short, maturity is forever."
-Calvin

"If people could put rainbows in zoos, they'd do it."
-Hobbes

"I don't need to compromise my principles, because they don't have the slightest bearing on what happens to me anyway."
-Calvin

"True friends are hard to come by...I need more money."
-Calvin

"Susie, if you want to see your doll again, leave $100 in this envelope by the tree out front. Do not call the police. You cannot trace us. You cannot find us. Sincerely, Calvin."
-Calvin

"Oh, great altar of passive entertainment... Bestow upon me thy discordant images at such speed as to render linear thought impossible!"
-Calvin

"Van Gogh would've sold more than one painting if he'd put tigers in them."
-Hobbes

"In my opinion, we don't devote nearly enough scientific research to finding a cure for jerks."
-Calvin

"Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?"
-Calvin

"Leave it to a girl to take all the fun out of sex discrimination."
-Calvin

"There's an inverse relationship between how good something is for you, and how much fun it is."
-Calvin

"There's no problem so awful that you can't add some guilt to it and make it even worse!"
-Calvin

"So the secret to good self-esteem is to lower your expectations to the point where they're already met?"
-Calvin

"I don't know which is worse, ...that everyone has his price, or that the price is always so low."
-Calvin

"When I grow up, I'm not going to read the newspaper and I'm not going to follow complex issues and I'm not going to vote. That way I can complain when the government doesn't represent me. Then, when everything goes down the tubes, I can say the system doesn't work and justify my further lack of participation."
-Calvin

"The secret to happiness is short-term, stupid self-interest!"
-Calvin

"The strength to change what I can, the inability to accept what I can't, and the incapacity the tell the difference."
-Calvin

"I hate it when I can't gird my loins with funny animals."
-Calvin

"Everybody I know needs a complete personality overhaul!"
-Calvin

"I used to hate writing assignments, but now I enjoy them. I realized that the purpose of writing is to inflate weak ideas, obscure poor reasoning, and inhibit clarity. With a little practice, writing can be an intimidating and impenetrable fog!"
-Calvin

"You know how people are. They only recognize greatness when some authority confirms it."
-Calvin

"History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices."
-Calvin

"It's not the pace of life I mind. It's the sudden stop at the end."
-Calvin

"The best presents don't come in boxes."
-Hobbes

"As far as I'm concerned, if something is so complicated that you can't explain it in 10 seconds, then it's probably not worth knowing anyway."
-Calvin

"Things are never quite as scary when you've got a best friend."
-Calvin

"People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realize how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world."
-Calvin

"It's only work if somebody makes you do it."
-Calvin

"In my opinion, television validates existence."
-Calvin

"Life is like topography, Hobbes. There are summits of happiness and success... ...Flat stretches of boring routine... ...And valleys of frustration and failure."
-Calvin

"Reading goes faster if you don't sweat comprehension."
-Calvin

"What I like is when you're looking and thinking and looking and thinking... And suddenly you wake up."
-Calvin

"There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want."
-Calvin

"The good thing about drawing a tiger is that it automatically makes your picture fine art."
-Hobbes

"You know, there are times when it's a source of personal pride to not be human."
-Hobbes

"I had resolved to be less offended by human nature, but I think I blew it already."
-Hobbes

"You know how Einstein got bad grades as a kid? Well, mine are even worse!"
-Calvin

"A day can really slip by when you're deliberately avoiding what you're supposed to do."
-Calvin

"I'M SIGNIFICANT!...screamed the dust speck."
-Calvin

"The worst part is that I don't even have the fun of doing the things I'm getting blamed for."
-Calvin

"Being a parent is wanting to hug and strangle your kid at the same time."
-Calvin's Dad

"I keep forgetting that rules are for little nice people."
-Calvin
